Copy Trade Settings

You have more flexibility when copying lead traders. You can control direction, allocation, and risk management (TP/SL, max leverage, max margin, price range) for each trader you follow.

Basic Settings

1. Copy Trade Direction

  • Direct – Copy the trader’s positions exactly.

  • Inverse – You can now choose to take the opposite side of any lead trader’s positions. This feature allows you to inverse a trader’s strategy — when they go long, you go short (and vice versa). ⚠️ Note: 1. Inverse Copy can only be selected when you start copying a trader. 2. Once copying has begun, this setting cannot be changed until you stop and restart the copy trade.

2. New Allocation Settings

When starting or adjusting copy trading, you can set how much balance to allocate:

  • Quick options: 10% / 25% / 100%

  • Custom amount: enter a specific number

  • Slider: adjust allocation dynamically

Key Indicators

  • Amount → New funds from your Trading Account to be allocated to copy the lead trader

  • Existing Allocation → Funds already allocated to that trader

  • Total → Sum of new + existing allocation

Advanced Settings

All Advanced Settings are turned off by default. You can enable and adjust them based on your preferences.

Among these settings, Copy All Existing Positions can only be configured before you start copying and cannot be changed once copying begins. All other advanced settings can be adjusted at any time while copying is active.

1. Take Profit / Stop Loss

There are 2 types of TP/SL settings:

  1. Trader-level TP/SL (Subscription TP/SL) • This TP/SL applies to all positions you copy from a specific lead trader.

    • Percentage-based, example: at 25x leverage, a 1% move ≈ 25% ROI

    • Set once when starting (or adjusting) a copy • Helps automate profit-taking or loss protection across all copied positions

  2. Position-Level TP/SL (Per-Position Controls) • This TP/SL applies only to one specific position in your Portfolio.

    • Fixed price-based: Set SL/TP by entering an exact price

    • Includes quick presets (e.g. SL: –5% / –15% / –50%, TP: +10% / +30% / +100%)

    • Can be adjusted anytime while the position is open

    • Where is it: Portfolio → Positions → tap a position → Edit (✎). Read more: Positions

⚠️ Notes:

Position-level TP/SL Overrides Trader-Level TP/SL

2. Max Leverage & Max Margin

These settings help you control risk even if a lead trader uses aggressive sizing / leverage.

Max Leverage

Set the maximum leverage you are willing to use when copying a trader.

If a lead trader opens a position with higher leverage than your setting, your copy will respect your max leverage limit.

Example:

  • Lead trader opens a trade at 10× leverage

  • You set Max Leverage = 5×

  • Your copied position will use 5× leverage, not 10×

If you set Max Leverage to a very high value (e.g. 100×), lead trader's leverage limits will apply automatically.

Max Margin Percentage

Set the maximum percentage of your allocated balance that can be used as margin for a single copied trade.

This prevents excessive capital concentration in one position.

Example:

  • Your allocated balance: $500

  • Max Margin Percentage: 10%

  • Maximum margin used per trade: $50

Where to Configure

You can set or update these at any time:

  1. Explore → Lead Trader → Copy / Adjust → Advanced Settings or

  2. Portfolio → Select a copied trader → Adjust → Advanced Settings.

3. Copy All Existing Positions

  • Default (OFF): By default, Coinpilot only copies existing positions that are within the following price range of the lead trader’s entry price:

    • If your lead trader’s position is Long: Your copy will only execute if the current market price is between –10% and 0% of the trader’s entry.

    • If your lead trader’s position is Short: Your copy will only execute if the current market price is between 0% and +10% of the trader’s entry.

This prevents you from entering positions that are already far away from the leader’s entry point, helping reduce slippage and improve trade accuracy.

  • When ON: Copies all existing positions, regardless of price deviation.

  • Note: This can only be set when you start — it can’t be changed while you are copying.

Note: Balance (per trader)

  • Balance is the total funds tied to a specific lead trader you are copying.

  • It includes your initial allocation + all realized PnL since you started copying that trader.

  • This means Balance can be larger than your initial allocation (if profitable) or smaller (if losses).

  • This is also where closed PnL from SL/TP executions will go.

  • It will continue to be used for the trader’s future trades until you stop copying.

⚠️ Note: Balance here is different from Account Balance.

  • Account Balance = all funds across your Trading Account + all trader allocations.

  • Balance (per trader) = funds associated with one trader only.
